I got tired of running 10 calls a day and never actually fixing anything. We'd patch the symptom, move on, and leave the customer with the same problem six months later. That's not a service — that's a disservice. I started Yellow Submarine Plumbing & Rooter so we could do the job right.
Chris, owner & founderNo black hole. No ghosting. You’ll know where you stand at every step.

A short call, 15 minutes max. We want to make sure it’s worth both our time before anyone drives anywhere.
3. In-person interview
Come meet the crew at our Nanaimo shop. Casual, direct, not a panel.
4. Paid ride-along
One full day in the van with the crew. You see how we operate. We see how you think. No surprises on either side.
You get paid for this day.
5. Background check
Standard check before we get to an offer. We’ll walk you through it. Nothing surprising.
6. Offer
If it’s a fit on both sides, we put something in writing. Clear terms, no games.
The first reason I like working at Yellow Submarine Plumbing and Rooter is the fact that the company is family-based and not a big corporation. The fact that I don’t have to go through 5 managers or 5 journeymen to get a proper answer for a question I may have regarding work. Another reason I like working at Yellow Submarine is the learning opportunities and problem solving I get to exercise almost daily.
The third reason I like working at Yellow Sub is the relationship between the boss and workers/coworkers. Everyone wants to set you up for success, and they don’t feel like just coworkers or a boss — it’s more of a friendship. 👍”
I like working here because I don’t work on-call shifts, great benefits, a compassionate and disciplined leader providing us with all the newest equipment, jumping into trucks to take calls when we are busy, as well as ongoing training to help advance personal skills.
Ron, 6 years with the companyYou start the day checked in, van stocked, snacks on the bench.
You’ll run 2–3 booked calls, not 8, not 10. Each job gets the time it needs to diagnose properly, present options, and do the work right.
This is the part that surprises most people coming from volume shops.
Two or three calls done properly beats ten calls done halfway, for the customer and for your cheque.

Before any of that, the right candidates get a paid 1-day ride-along — so you can see exactly how we operate before you hand in your notice anywhere. No guessing, no pressure.
